Fancy cooking with Poo? Maybe not. Not until, that is, you learn that 'Poo' actually refers to the warm-hearted and endearing Khun Poo, your Thai cooking teacher.
Helping Hands Thai Cooking School is based in the Klong Toey slum in Bangkok, and the grassroots company helps to raise awareness of the situation in the slums by teaching visitors about the other side of Bangkok. Khun Poo lives in the slum herself, and once you've been picked up from the central location (Emporium Suites Hotel) you will have a tour of the truly local wet markets, then return to her school to cook with the ingredients you purchased.
Menus are simple but delicious, and they'll taste even better with knowledge that you are supporting a fairtrade organisation and helping the local community. Khun Poo is renowned for her lively, lovable nature and many of her customers have been tempted back time and time again.
Classes start at 8.30am
