The National Museum Bangkok

Bangkok

Museums and Historical Buildings

The National Museum Bangkok is a place that should be included in your must-see list when visiting Bangkok. You will find interesting exhibitions of Thai history and art and if you need a guide, you can get one. Totally worth the time and the money spent.

Located on Sanam Luang Square, the National Museum Bangkok occupies the building of the Front Palace, once palace of the vice king. It is one of the main museums in Thailand and features exhibits of the Thai history and art. The historical exhibits of Thailand go back to the Neolithic era, with artifacts from the periods Dvaravati, Ayutthaya and Sukhothai. There are collections of Buddhist Arts that are also worth to be seen.

The museum works very day but on Monday and Tuesday and has operating hours between 9 am and 4 pm. It has a nice library and can offer group guides in English, French, German and Japanese (you should check the days in which these are available).
